1931年，震惊中外的"九·一八"事变爆发了，武林志士华志强在母亲惨遭日军杀害后，他与恋人张小叶逃离故土。途中，两人失散。小叶逃至北平，避难于姨夫魏辛家里。魏辛早已不好汉奸，在坂田手下任翻译。坂田公开的身份是使馆外交官，实质则为日本的间谍，他专事组织绑架、暗杀我抗日志士的罪恶活动。此时，坂田特意安排其子、日本武士小次郎来到北平，与中华武馆杨馆长比武，妄想借此机会征服中华武术界。但坂田深知杨馆长武功高强，遂暗派杀手在芦沟桥上行刺。幸亏乔装车夫的华志强相救，杨馆长才安危脱险。小次郎对父亲的作法十分不满，他要以公平比武的方式打败杨馆长。坂田无奈下只得派魏辛到武术馆下战书，约定第二天比武决胜负。次日，中日双方在天坛摆开擂台，进行一场生死的较量。杨馆长武功超群，小次郎只有招架之功，尔后，杨馆长佯装失手，鸣锣收兵。是夜，坂田终于毒死杨馆长。正当坂田在公馆内举杯庆贺时，华志强突然闯进来为师傅报仇。坂田举枪欲杀死华志强，被小次郎阻止。小次郎要与华志强单独决斗，然而，交手只几个回合就被华志强击败。小次郎面含羞愧决意回国去苦练忍术，待来日再与华志强一决输赢。坂田为了报复，唆使忍者去砸了中华武馆，华志强拼搏逃出，又被忍者追杀至黄河岸边。他情急下毅然跳入黄河，被船家女虎妞搭救脱险。华志强从此在黄河的激流中，练就出一身绝技。不久，小次郎重返中国。他们在黄河边相见，两个约定9月18日以长城为擂台，一决雌雄。小次郎运用忍术，步步紧逼华志强。而华志强怀着低外侮、抗强暴的决心，凭借中华武功的绝技，终于打败了小次郎。这时，坂田突然下了毒手，华志强倒在坂田的枪口下，而象征中华民族脊骨的长城，巍然挺立。

上世纪二十年代，白色恐怖时期，全城封锁，李一民（王源饰）临危受命，孤身担起护送重要人物秘密撤离的重任。但此时，组织遭到严重破坏，孤立无援，举步维艰。李一民决定暗中寻求帮助，他一路遇到了老师候少烈（李晨饰）、工友章贵生（印小天饰）、同窗丁梦华（张雪迎饰）、许天平（梁靖康饰）、江岳（此沙饰）、罗世闻（翟潇闻饰）、周文素（李嘉鑫饰）等早已走上了不同人生道路的昔日旧友，谁值得信任同行？“孤星小队”再次集结，本以为精心布局的撤离计划，却早已笼罩在敌人的天罗地网之下，撤离时刻，迫在眉睫，把最后一颗子弹留给自己，能否博得一线生机？
